Join us for an open conversation about yoga for menopause and perimenopause from the luminous duo — Judith Hanson Lasater and Lizzie Lasater.
We cover a lot of ground here, starting with how the mother-daughter team came to work together, the impact it’s had on their relationship, and how it’s helped them stay close despite living many time zones away from each other.
From there we pivot into the heart of our conversation. And since each of us represents the different stages (perimenopause, menopause, and beyond) we each weigh in on how it’s going. Our experiences and feelings run the gamut. We talk about “owning” this stage of life, the moments of grief that arise, and how yoga in the West has evolved largely from male practice templates.
There are so many insights from Lizzie and Judith here. But perhaps my favorite takeaway is the vital reminder to let yoga meet us where we are. “So much of the way yoga is presented is one flavor; some sort of athletic flowing exercise that isn’t serving women at different stages,” says Lizzie.
I hope this conversation gives you permission to utilize yoga’s tools to support you, whatever stage of life you’re in. As Judith says, “We’re primed to let life go through us. Your life and practice are going to change as you get older. It’s gonna change!”
